Ask us any questions about NCS, run by The Challenge...

Will it count towards my Duke of Edinburgh award?

Yes, the social action days in Phase 3 count towards the volunteering part of the award for Bronze, Silver and Gold.

In order for NCS to count towards your Duke of Edinburgh Award, you need to register separately with the Duke of Edinburgh Award charity within three months of starting NCS.

Duke of Edinburgh requires participants to engage in regular, sustained volunteering over a number of months, so young people will need to continue their volunteering after NCS. For further details about how much volunteering you need to complete for Duke of Edinburgh, and the evidence you need to gather, please check with your Duke of Edinburgh leader.

For programmes starting in the summer:

In addition, Phase 1 can also count towards the residential component of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. Young people who want NCS to count towards their Gold Award must be at least 16 and will need to let us know before the start of NCS.

Please note that the half term programmes do not count towards the residential component of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
